Artifact of the Week

Artifact of the Week: June 16-20

June 16-20: Chinese Erhu

This is an erhu, a traditional Chinese string instrument, often called a "Chinese violin." It has two strings and a unique, haunting sound. Players hold the erhu vertically and use a bow to create music. Despite its simple appearance, the erhu is incredibly expressive and can be used in a variety of musical styles.

This artifact is currently on display at the Karshner Museum in Gallery 5!
